Forest Gate Community School
Forest Gate Community School (FGCS), rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in 2016, is ranked in the Government's 2017 Progress 8 league tables as the sixth highest performing school in the country with a P8 score of +1.31.
Based in Newham, London's second most deprived borough, the school tops the secondary school offering in the borough and has grown from strength to strength, providing its students with a world-class education. The hard work of committed staff and leaders in ensuring a culture of high expectations, engaging lessons, rigorous assessment and clear reporting, alongside an excellent balance of challenge and support has contributed to outstanding GCSE results with students on average achieving one grade higher than expected in every subject.
The school offers a range of extra-curricular and leadership opportunities and a broad, balanced and stretching curriculum to enable students to secure invaluable knowledge and skills as independent, reflective learners. Tailored pastoral care, careers guidance and a positive, caring and safe learning environment enable students to leave as confident, resilient and responsible individuals ready to succeed in their next destination in life. Our students have gone on to prestigious colleges such as Eton, Latymer, Westminster and Winchester and then progressed on to Oxford or Cambridge.
In 2017, FGCS were shortlisted for the Best Secondary School TES Awards and won the Evening Standard's Outstanding Achievement in Challenging Circumstances Award.
